CORAF organizes the 3rd Marché des Innovations et Technologies Agricoles (MITA) in Ouagadougou

The Conseil Ouest et Centre Africain pour la Recherche et le Développement Agricoles (CORAF) is organizing the third edition of the Marché des Innovations et Technologies Agricoles (MITA) from September 12 to 15, 2023 at the Ouaga 2000 Conference Hall. This flagship event of CORAF, placed under the patronage of Prof. Adjima Thiombiano, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Burkina Faso, is an important rendez-vous to highlight innovations and technological advances from public and private research and inventors in West and Central Africa.

The theme of this third edition, "Facilitating access to gender- and nutrition-sensitive agricultural technologies and innovations" reflects the commitment of CORAF and its partners to promoting gender- and nutrition-sensitive innovations that meet the needs of the different links (production, post-harvest, processing, mechanization, etc.) in agricultural value chains.

This edition of MITA follows on from the previous one, held in Dakar, Senegal, in 2022. Through initiatives such as CAADP-XP4, PRSA/FSRP (Programme de Résilience du Système Alimentaire), and AICCRA, CORAF aims to strengthen access to and dissemination of agricultural technologies in West and Central Africa. This third edition of MITA is a framework for the exchange of technological information and innovation for the benefit of the public and agricultural professionals, as well as B-to-B sessions and fora. It is therefore an opportunity to showcase proven innovations and technologies that have the potential to transform agriculture and contribute to greater food security.

MITA 2023 will bring together a wide range of participants from ministries of agriculture, regional bodies, research institutes and universities, private sector players, non-governmental organizations, agricultural associations, potential investors and more.

" For this year, MITA 2023 takes on a special dimension by highlighting gender- and nutrition-sensitive technologies. The aim is to facilitate access to such agricultural innovations and position them at the heart of the debate. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize agriculture and contribute to greater food security, while taking into account the gender and nutrition dimension ", explains Dr Abdou TENKOUANO, Executive Director of CORAF.

Over the next few days, cutting-edge agricultural technologies will be showcased, in-depth discussions will take place and excellence will be rewarded at the Agricultural Innovators Gala Evening.

The results expected from this edition will help generate a strong commitment to support agricultural research and the scaling-up of climate-smart and gender- and nutrition-sensitive technologies, paving the way for more inclusive and resilient agriculture in West and Central Africa.
