CORAF: a step towards access to climate financing
CORAF is committed to improving living conditions in West and Central Africa by promoting climate-resilient agriculture. Within this framework, a skills-building session for CORAF staff was held on October 30 and 31, 2023 in Abidjan, focusing on structuring climate projects and developing concept notes. This initiative strengthens CORAF's capacity to access climate financing, thereby promoting more resilient and productive agriculture for the benefit of communities.
The Global Green Growth Institute(GGGI), with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is working closely to build CORAF's capacity in preparation for its accreditation to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This includes building skills to implement projects and programs with a positive climate impact, consolidating climate data and promoting collaboration between agricultural research institutions, improving their skills in formulating long-term proposals.
The GGCI-organized workshop employed interactive methods, case studies and group work to ensure active engagement and learning. The program was designed to meet the specific needs of participants, fostering an environment where they were able to develop concept notes, assess the progress of CORAF's accreditation to the CVF and address identified gaps.
Through practical exercises and collaborative sessions, the workshop strengthened the skills of CORAF staff, preparing them to better access climate adaptation funding and play a leading role in promoting resilience and sustainability within the African agricultural sector.
CORAF continues to work towards accreditation to the CVF, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to improving the climate change resilience of Africa's smallholder farmers while boosting agricultural productivity.
