Cotonou, in the Republic of Benin, is hosting from today, April 25, 2022, to April 29, the second session of the regional workshop to build the capacity of CORAF's Impact Assessment Community of Practice in impact assessment best practice.
The workshop was officially launched by the Scientific Director of the Institut national des recherches agricoles du Bénin (INRAB), Dr Alex G. ZOFFOUN, representing the Director General of INRAB, Dr Adolphe ADJANOHOUN.
Some thirty participants from eighteen (18) countries in West and Central Africa have come together for a week to deepen their knowledge and acquire the best techniques in impact assessment.
The participants are part of a Community of Practice in impact assessment, set up in 2021 by CORAF, through the Partnership for Agricultural Research, Education and Development (PAIRED) program.
PAIRED is funded by the West Africa Regional Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by CORAF.
The aim of the workshop is to institutionalize impact monitoring and evaluation, with in-house regional capacity and expertise, and to instill a culture of impact monitoring in the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) that are members of CORAF.
"After the first phase held last year, this second phase should help impact evaluation practitioners to improve their skills and adopt a true culture of project impact monitoring and evaluation", says Dr Hippolyte AFFOGNON, PAIRED Coordinator.
"This is helping to strengthen CORAF's monitoring and evaluation strategy, by helping to put in place, a mechanism to better assess the impact of its many initiatives in the field."
Participants will work on a total of seven (07) training modules, with a strong emphasis on practical work, to ensure the effective application and mastery of the various concepts received.
