Report of the 13th Ordinary Session of the CORAF General Assembly

The thirteenth ordinary session of the CORAF General Assembly (AG13) was held in N'Djaména from January 25 to 28, 2022, under the patronage of General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Transitional Military Council and President of the Republic of Chad.

CORAF's AG13 was held in two phases, including a virtual business meeting, held in April 2021. 

The N'Djamena meeting represents the second phase, and was held under the theme: "Increasing CORAF's presence in Central Africa to take better account of agricultural research and development needs".

"I would like to thank General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno and all the Chadian authorities for their support and the vital role they played in ensuring the success of the second phase of CORAF's 13th General Assembly," said CORAF Executive Director Dr. Abdou TENKOUANO. 

"The meetings resulted in strategic plans that will reposition CORAF to play its full role as a catalyst for food security and development in Central Africa, following the example of West Africa.

The recommendations resulting from the 13th AGM are based on eight (08) points:

  • Mobilizing financial resources
  • Review of documents by the Annual General Meeting
  • Approval of strategic documents
  • Extension of the Board of Directors' term of office
  • CORAF's strategic positioning and visibility
  • Human resources capacity building in the Central African region
  • Institutional partnerships
  • Date and place of next meeting

The fourteenth Ordinary Session of the CORAF General Assembly will be held in April 2024 in Cotonou, Benin.
