Professor Abdourahmane SANGARÉ appointed DG of CNRA

As of September 08, 2022, Professor Abdourahmane SANGARÉ is the new Director General of Côte d'Ivoire's Centre national de recherche agronomique (CNRA).

Prof SANGARÉ was appointed Director General of CNRA at the 109th Session of the CNRA Board of Directors held on Thursday 08 September 2022, succeeding Dr Yté WONGBÉ.

Prior to his appointment, Prof SANGARÉ was Deputy Director General of CNRA. He becomes the de facto fourth Director General of this public research body.

"I congratulate Professor SANGARÉ on his brilliant appointment to CNRA's General Management. I'm looking forward to continuing the fruitful collaboration with CNRA, in order to help achieve the objectives of food security and improved living conditions for the people of Côte d'Ivoire and the sub-region", said Dr Abdou TENKOUANO, Executive Director of CORAF. 

Prof SANGARÉ was formerly in charge of CORAF's Biotechnology and Biosafety program. 

He specializes in the study of molecular and cellular biology at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France.

He has also been an Officer of the National Order of the Côte d'Ivoire Ministry of Education since 2009. 

CNRA is the main research institute in Côte d'Ivoire's National Agricultural Research System. In particular, it coordinates the Centre national de spécialisation sur la banane plantain. It was created in 1998 from the dissolution of several research structures: the Institut des forêts (IDEFOR), the Institut des savanes (IDESSA) and the Centre ivoirien de recherche technologique (CIRT).
