Chad's Minister of Agricultural Development, Ms Kamoungué Dena Assoum, has pledged to support CORAF in its efforts to increase its footprint in Central Africa. Minister Assoum was speaking at a press conference to announce that the physical meeting of the 13th General Assembly would be held in Ndjamena, Chad, from January 25 to 27, 2022.
"I will work with CORAF to strengthen its presence in Central Africa and implement the recommendations made at the 13th General Assembly," said Minister Assoum at a press conference held at the offices of the Chadian Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (ITRAD), CORAF's main partner in Chad.
The senior Chadian official reiterated the importance of regional cooperation in agricultural development.
The challenge of developing African agriculture also rests on the need to strengthen inter-regional cooperation."

The General Assembly is CORAF's highest decision-making body. It is held once every three years. The 13th iteration was held in two parts. The first part was in the form of a virtual business meeting in April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second part will be physical and should attract around a hundred participants in the Chadian capital, at the end of January 2022.
Most of the discussions at the GA will focus on how CORAF can increase its footprint in Central Africa and approve most of the governance tools discussed at the April 2021 virtual meeting.
