CORAF supports ISRA in conducting gender-sensitive research

At the request of the Institut sénégalais de recherche agricole(ISRA), CORAF has trained gender specialists to better integrate the gender dimension into their research activities.

The two-day training took place from March 18 to 20, 2019 in Dakar, Senegal. CORAF's regional advisor on gender and social development facilitated the training over the two days.

Gender is at the heart of ISRA's 2018-2022 strategic plan. By building the capacity of gender focal points, ISRA hopes that its research institutes will conduct more gender-sensitive research.

ISRA's research activities should contribute to the food security of the Senegalese population and to equity and social justice. By organizing this training, ISRA hopes to achieve these objectives.

At the end of the training, ISRA hopes that its researchers will be better able to carry out field work to meet the population's food security objectives.

In addition to the gender focal points, monitoring and evaluation managers and ISRA communication officers also took part in the training.
