CORAF Governing Board approves revised work plan
Published on: 23/07/2020
The CORAF Board of Directors approved the revised work plan. Meeting at its 28th session from July 15 to 17, 2020, the Governing Board also congratulated the Executive Secretariat on the progress made in implementing the 2020 work plan despite the difficult circumstances engendered by COVID-19.
The amended work plan transfers some of CORAF's operations online to circumvent the travel restrictions associated with COVID-19.
"I would like to congratulate the Executive Director and his team for the work they have accomplished in extremely difficult circumstances", said Dr. Ângela Maria Pereira Barreto da Veiga Moreno, Chairman of the CORAF Board of Directors.
The 28th Board session was the first to be held virtually due to travel restrictions imposed by various governments as a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier this year, the CORAF Board approved an ambitious annual plan. Although progress has been made, COVID-19 has significantly disrupted implementation.
CORAF strives to improve food and nutrition security and boost prosperity for the people of West and Central Africa. To this end, it executes a series of annual work plans designed to contribute to the implementation of the 2018-2022 Operational Plan.
When approved in 2018, the current operational plan was expected to cost 60 million USD. To date, around 90% of this amount has been mobilized.
Most of the funds are provided by donor organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union and the World Bank.
CORAF's governance system comprises a General Assembly (supreme authority and highest decision-making body), a Board of Directors, an Executive Secretariat and a Scientific and Technical Committee.
The Board of Directors oversees the activities of CORAF's Executive Secretariat. As such, it reviews and approves work plans and budgets, and takes strategic decisions to improve its performance.
