R & D from a safety perspective

Research and development (R&D) could focus on generating innovative ideas to liberate the agricultural sector.
For a region struggling to cope with the serious effects of climate change and terrorism, R&D takes on added value. In this sense, where it can create new solutions to stem the mass migration of young people out of Africa through gainful employment in the agri-food sector. It can also develop climate-sensitive technologies and solutions to strengthen community resilience.
That's why, when Pamela White, former U.S. Ambassador and USAID Mission Director, came to visit Africa's largest sub-regional agricultural research organization, she not only wanted to understand CORAF's functions, but also to identify the resources deployed to better meet West Africa's current needs.
Ms. White visited CORAF on Friday, January 30, 2018, as part of USAID's efforts to learn and understand the opportunities and challenges facing the West African region and sub-regional institutions in particular. The results of these consultations are expected to strengthen USAID's program across regional institutions in West Africa. She was accompanied by Richard Chan, Director of the Regional Economic Growth Office.
