CORAF Chairman calls for increased R&D investment
Published on: 25/01/2022
CORAF Board Chair Dr Angela Moreno has called for increased investment in research and development to enable researchers to find solutions to the urgent agricultural challenges facing West and Central Africa. Dr Moreno was speaking at the opening ceremony of CORAF's 13th General Assembly in the Chadian capital of N'djaména.
Few regions in the world have seen the transformation of their agricultural economy without commensurate investment in research and development",
said Dr Moreno.
"The Israel of today faced immense challenges given its geographical location. But through technology and innovation, Israel can produce enough food today at any time of the year to feed its population, and even export some. India, China and other emerging economies like Brazil have harnessed science in similar ways to transform their agricultural sectors. We can do it in the Sahel, in Central and West Africa.
