The former Chairman of CORAF's Board of Directors, Dr Alioune FALL, has been recognized as a "Distinguished Almumnus" of Michigan State University (MSU).

Dr. FALL has been recognized as MSU's "Distinguished Almumnus" since May 02, 2020 and, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, only received the distinction on May 19, 2022, at a symbolic ceremony held on the Dakar American University of Science and Technology (DAUST) campus.

CORAF's Executive Director, Dr Abou TENKOUANO, congratulated Dr Alioune FALL on his "exceptional career and achievements".

He said: "Dr Alioune FALL is one of Africa's leading figures in agricultural research and development. His exceptional career and achievements are inspiring. He works tirelessly to improve the living conditions of African farmers.

Dr Alioune FALL was Chairman of the CORAF Board of Directors from 2014 to 2018, a very difficult period in the life of the organization.

Thanks to its leadership, the organization set about developing a new Strategic Plan 2018-2027 and Operational Plan 2018-2022, which were unanimously approved at CORAF's 12th General Assembly held in Dakar, Senegal, in April 2018.

"CORAF is grateful to Dr. FALL for the vital role he has played in the life of the organization, and is proud to have had him as Chairman of the Board of Directors," said Dr. Abdou TENKOUANO.

Holder of a PhD in agricultural engineering, Dr Alioune FALL was also Scientific Director and General Manager of the Institut sénégalais de recherches agricoles (ISRA).

He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
