Call for entries: 1st Abdoulaye TOURE Agricultural Innovation Award

In 2019, the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF) and the World Bank announced the creation of the Abdoulaye Touré Agricultural Innovation Prize (PIA ABDOULAYE TOURE) in memory of one of Africa's greatest champions of agricultural research and development Abdoulaye Touré.
CORAF launches the first edition of the Abdoulaye TOURE Agricultural Innovation Award (PIA ABDOULAYE TOURE).
This first edition will reward three (03) researchers/inventors or organizations working in National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) who are helping to build a better future through cutting-edge agricultural innovations that have a positive impact on farmers' activities in West and Central Africa.
The Abdoulaye TOURE Agricultural Innovation Prize (1st Edition) comprises three categories:
A grant of US$60,000 is awarded to the first three innovators each to support their project for the improvement of innovative agricultural technology, which can be used to solve one or more problems linked to agriculture in general and food insecurity in particular in West and Central Africa.
These endowments will be awarded solely for the implementation of each project, and must be used within one year of the awards being made.
Price
The winning names are made public by the CORAF Executive Secretariat, which is organizing an awards ceremony during the next Marché des Innovations et Technologies Agricoles (MITA), to be held from October 21 to 25, 2024 in Lomé, Togo.
Selection and award
This funding is aimed at researchers, teacher-researchers, technicians, innovators, etc. in all agricultural fields, working in research institutions or privately in the CORAF area.
The main part of the subsidy is limited to the financing of activities for the design/testing/improvement of the expected innovation, mission costs for the supervision of these activities, laboratory analysis costs, data processing and analysis costs, and other expenses subject to prior approval by CORAF. No computer equipment other than small consumables may be financed by the grant.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.
