A total of nine million Africans benefit directly from the African Agricultural Productivity Program (AAPP), announced Dr Abdou Tenkouano, Executive Director of Coraf/Wecard, in Dakar on Tuesday.
"There are 49 million indirect beneficiaries and 9 million direct beneficiaries of the WAPP," said Dr Tenkouano.
He was speaking to the press on the sidelines of CORAF's 12th General Assembly, held from April 10 to 12, 2018 in Dakar.
The African Agricultural Productivity Program (AAPP) has been implemented since 2008 by the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD) with funding from the World Bank.
It has enabled the production and dissemination of over 400 agricultural technologies. "Thanks to PPAAO, we have also been able to train over 1,000 young researchers to enable them to continue advancing the agricultural research agenda in their countries," continued Dr. Abdou Tenkouano, Executive Director of Coraf/Wecard.
