An inspiring webinar for young agripreneurs in West and Central Africa

Youth unemployment is a major challenge in West and Central Africa, where over 60% of the working population is made up of young people. Despite increasing levels of education, access to employment remains limited, exacerbating economic and social tensions. Faced with this reality, in 2019 CORAF launched Agripreneur TV, a platform dedicated to promoting agricultural entrepreneurship among young people. Agripreneur TV broadcasts innovative and educational content, highlighting opportunities and successes in the agricultural sector.

After a period of restructuring, Agripreneur TV is back in business with a series of webinars designed to equip young people to succeed in agriculture. The first webinar in this series, entitled "How to launch your farming business?", will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 14:30 to 16:30 GMT on Zoom.

This webinar aims to raise awareness of the opportunities in agricultural entrepreneurship, provide practical knowledge of the steps needed to effectively start and manage an agricultural business, and share successful models of agricultural entrepreneurship.

Dr. Alioune Fall, Executive Director of CORAF, who will open the webinar, underlines the importance of this initiative: "We firmly believe that agriculture is an essential key to economic and social development in Africa. This webinar is a unique opportunity for young people to get inspired and get started in this promising sector."

The webinar will bring together renowned experts and successful agripreneurs, including Dr. Yacouba Diallo, Expert in International Development, Agribusiness and Private Sector Development and Secretary General at African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA); Mr. Amadou Sidibé, architect and successful agripreneur; Ms. Awa Caba, Co-founder and Managing Director of SOORETUL. These speakers will share their experiences, advice and best practices for starting up a viable and sustainable farming business.

The event will take an interactive approach, combining presentations, panel discussions and Q&A sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact directly with the experts. By the end of the webinar, they should have acquired practical skills to launch and manage a sustainable agricultural business, be inspired and motivated to explore opportunities for innovation in the agricultural sector, and be better prepared to contribute positively to the transformation of Africa's agricultural sector.

We invite all young agricultural entrepreneurs, students, development partners, members of civil society, researchers, and anyone interested in agribusiness to join us for this enriching webinar. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory. To register, please click on the following link: bit.ly/AgripreneurTVWebinar1.
